The world is getting smaller every day due to the increased ease of travel and the availability of technology. Without knowledge and understanding of other countries and cultures, sometimes differences we see in other places can seem strange or scary.

Each Real World Kids book aims to inspire kids (and adults!) around the world to learn more about each other; to expand their knowledge and understanding outside of their own country and culture. Each book tells the story of a real child somewhere in the world. The information included in each book reflects the real answers given by that child when asked about themselves and their life.

By introducing and exploring the differences in the daily lives of children around the world, the foreign will become more familiar. These learnings may then transfer into the children’s lives; enabling them to be more open and accepting when they encounter people living lives that appear to be different from their own.

Each REAL WORLD KIDS book features the real-life story of a child from somewhere in the world. The main story tells an engaging and interactive “day-in-the-life-of” that child.

At the end of each story you’ll discover more fun, easy-to-understand facts about the country the child is from, including their native animals, languages, foods and activities. Then, continue the conversation about what you’ve learned by answering the discussion questions with your friends and family.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Rebecca Evens has always loved to travel. She has visited eighty-four different countries, and lived in eight of them. In 2017, Rebecca departed on a two-and-a-half-year trip around the world with her Australian partner, Shane, during which they visited forty-seven countries and 350 cities. It was on one of many long bus rides that the idea for a Real World Kids series of books came to life.

Rebecca never ceased to be amazed at the children she met along her journey, and their ability to find joy and happiness, no matter their circumstances. Seeing how central children are to communities all around the world, she started looking for a way to share the real-life stories of these kids, from countries around the world, with those in other places.

With over ten years of experience in International Marketing, this book series combines all of Rebecca’s passions, and she hopes it will inspire kids, and their parents, to learn about each other, and expand their knowledge and understanding outside their own country and culture.

Rebecca was born in the remote town of Pickle Lake, Ontario, Canada and grew up in Sioux Lookout, Ontario. She now lives in Brisbane, QLD, Australia with Shane and their dog, Kivu (named after a lake they visited in Rwanda during their around-the-world trip).
